Project History
LENDIS' project experience:
- "Engineering and Network Support Services for the TFHRC"
For Federal Highway Administration
8/98 - 7/03
LENDIS provides comprehensive engineering and network support to the
FHWA's Turner Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC). This is a
highly visible project of key importance to the success of the Nationally
Coordinated Program (NCP) for highway research and development, administered
by the Office of Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T) of FHWA.
The work covers two main areas: Systems and Engineering Applications
Programming Analysis and Network Operations.
- "Support Services for the Aerodynamic Laboratory"
For Federal Highway Administration
8/97 - 8/01
LENDIS provides engineers, technicians, and other personnel to assist
FHWA in the operation of the George S. Vincent Wind Tunnel at the
TFHRC. Typical tasks include evaluating aerodynamic stability of new
and existing bridge designs; investigating response of long-span bridges
to wind load; studying the effects of wind turbulence on bridge stability;
and developing retrofit measures for existing structures.
- "Development, Operation, and Maintenance of HSIS-III"
For Federal Highway Administration
1/97 - 12/00
Together with the Highway Safety Research Center of the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, LENDIS provides an onsite engineering
and programming team at FHWA's TFHRC. LENDIS is responsible for the
day-to-day operation of FHWA's HSIS (Highway Safety Inforrnation System)
Lab. HSIS is multi-state, multi-year database containing accident,
roadway, vehicle, occupants, and traffic information.
- "Data Center Technical Support Services for the FDIC"
For Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
3/97 - 2/01
Together with Computer Resource Management, Inc. (CRM), LENDIS provides
FDIC with a wide range of systems life cycle technical support services
for its mainframe computer systems and its SUN SPARCenter 2000s at
the Virginia Square Data Center. Typical tasks include systems installation,
testing, and programming support; Data Center architecture/standards
development; business recovery support; systems performance monitoring,
capacity planning, and tuning; storage management; and systems integrity
and acceptance testing.
- "Automatic Data Processing (ADP) Support Services for the Tumer-Fairbank Highway Research Center"
For Federal Highway Administration
5/95 - 7/98
As a subcontractor to Scientific Technology, Inc., LENDIS provides
computer operations support for FHWA's Office of Research and Development.
Typical tasks include the operations and administration of a LAN system
consisting of a fiber optic backbone, more than a dozen file servers,
intelligent hubs, and approximately 300 workstations; remote batch
processing and interactive time sharing with internal and external
mainframe installations; code library management; data/system security;
management and reporting of ADP accounts; and system access and technical
assistance to FHWA personnel and contractors.
- "Development, Operation, and Maintenance of HSIS-II"
For Federal Highway Administration
12/92 - 4/97
Together with the Highway Safety Research Center of the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, LENDIS provides an onsite engineering
and programming team at FHWA's TFHRC. LENDIS is responsible for the
day-to-day operation of FHWA's HSIS (Highway Safety Information System)
Lab and the development of a windows-based pedestrian and bicycle
crash typing program. This project is the predecessor of the project
in item No. 1.
- "Development and Presentation of FRESIM Training Courses"
For Federal Highway Administration
7/92 - 2/97
With VICOR Associates, Inc., LENDIS developed a two-day training course
on FHWA's microscopic freeway simulation model FRESIM and its auxiliary
programs. LENDIS provided an instructor to present the course at sites
and dates designated by FHWA.
- "Development of Sign Management System (SMS)"
For Federal Highway Administration
4/96 - 1/97
LENDIS developed the Sign Management System (SMS), a computer program
for tracking signs and predicting deteriorating signs in need of replacement.
The program allows state and local highway agencies to maintain an
integrated sign inventory, inspection, and maintenance/replacement
management system. It includes the modeling of factors affecting sign
retrorefleetivity level and the ability to locate signs by either
a milepost, or distance from intersection, or milepoint reference
system.
- "Network Communications Systems"
For Federal Highway Administration
5/93 - 7/93
LENDIS procured all required hardware and software, and configured
and set up the Novell NACS and NAS communications servers for Turner-Fairbank
Highway Research Center. The two servers provide in- and out-bound
communication and connection services for the Center's LAN systems.
